A Curved Spiral Antenna Above A Conducting Cylinder - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on

چکیده
A curved spiral antenna above a finite hollow conducting cylinder is analyzed using the method of moments. The effects of cylinder length 2H and cylinder radius rcy on the radiation characteristics of the spiral are evaluated. As 2H increases, the cross-polarization component of the radiation field in the broadside direction decreases to a constant value (approximately 18 dB). When 2H is greater than one wavelength ( 0), the input impedance of the spiral above a cylinder of radius rcy=0:25 0 is almost constant (250 j20 ) with a gain of approximately 7 dB. The spiral above a cylinder of (2H; rcy ) = (2.7 0; 0:25 0) shows a 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of approximately 23%, which is wider than a flat spiral antenna above a flat ground plane of infinite extent.

Curved spiral antennas for underwater biological applications
We developed curved spiral antennas for use in underwater (freshwater) communications. Specifically, these antennas will be integrated in so-called mussel backpacks. Backpacks are compact electronics that incorporate sensors and a small radio that operate around 300 MHz. Researchers attach these backpacks in their freshwater mussel related research. The antennas must be small, lightweight, and ...
متن کاملForward-Scattering Analysis in a Focused-Beam System - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on
The forward scattering from an arbitrarily shaped cylinder is characterized by its induced field ratio (IFR). This paper describes how a focused beam system is used to determine the scattering characteristics of an arbitrary-shaped cylinder. The fields of the transmitting and receiving antennas, as well as the scattered field from the cylinder, are described by equivalent fundamental Gaussian b...
متن کاملA Compact Antenna Test Range Based On A Hologram - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on
The application of conventional reflector-type compact antenna test ranges (CATR’s) becomes increasingly difficult above 100 GHz. The main problems are the tight surface accuracy requirements for the reflectors and, therefore, the high manufacturing costs. These problems can be overcome by the use of a hologram type of compact range in which a planar hologram structure is used as a collimating ...
متن کاملA Dual-Polarized Slot Antenna for Millimeter Waves - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on
We describe a new dual-polarized slot antenna to be used with quasi-optical devices such as superconductor-insulatorsuperconductor (SIS) mixers at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths. The radiation and impedance characteristics of the antenna were obtained from a moment-method calculation. The antenna has an excellent radiation pattern, a low impedance, wide bandwidth, and low cross polari...
متن کاملExperimental Testing on an Effective Technique to Reconstruct the Far- Field Pattern of a Long Antenna from Near-Field Measurements Acquired via Spherical Spiral Scan
In this paper, the experimental validation of a fast and accurate near-field – far-field (NF–FF) transformation with spherical spiral scanning for elongated antennas is provided. Such a transformation relies on a nonredundant sampling representation of the voltage measured by the probe, obtained by using the unified theory of spiral scans for nonspherical antennas and adopting a cylinder ended ...
